Chris Cotter, M.S.M.E., started working in the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) field with the company that is now Abbott in 2000. He is currently a Principal Engineer in Research & Development for Abbott’s Heart Failure business. He has dedicated his career to developing and enhancing products related to mechanical circulatory support, primarily the HeartMate line of ventricular assist systems, working to improve the durability and hemocompatibility of MSC technology in the HeartMate XVE and HeartMate II and most recently with the HeartMate 3.
Mr. Cotter received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
